Labeler Identifier

The labeler of a drug usually is its manufacturer, but a distributor may also appear as a labeler in the drug's NDC. This identifier is independent of the NDC and facilitates grouping NDC's by distributor.
This ID consists of two components:
1 character Identifies a division within the distributor’s company
5 digits The distributor’s labeler code
Products carrying one labeler’s 5-digit code on the NDC, which are marketed by another distributor will carry the latter’s Labeler ID regardless of the 5-digit labeler on the NDC.
